David Hull – Managing Partner
David founded HCI Trading in 2012 after noticing a lack of price transparency in the timber trading marketplace. HCI began offering Sawmills of all sizes a trading platform to market lumber inventories to wholesalers worldwide and this is where HCI’s Trading Registry was born and has been the cornerstone of the company’s success.
David received BA Hons in Business Studies from University of Westminster in London UK in 2003 and started his career in Finance working in the City of London. In 2006 David completed a Master of Science in Energy Trade and Finance from Cass Business School and has worked within Investment Banking departments for institutions such as RBOS and Fortis Bank.
Felix Afedi – Supply Chain Manager, Africa
Felix is a versatile and self-motivated person who has acquired practical knowledge of the African timber market for the past ten years.
Working with some of the leading timber firms, Felix has had the opportunity to go through the rank and file of operations working with established Mills in West Africa. This included the departmental setup of the Forestry Department dealing with the harvesting and logging activities.
Felix holds a of Bachelor of Art in IT Security, is a Certified Network Associate of Cisco, holds a Certificate in Forensic and Investigative Psychology as well as a Certificate in Finance. Felix has a notable network of connections within the West African timber market which has proven valuable to the HCI Trading team.
Vivian Sun – Trader, Asia
Vivian leads HCI’s China operations, her vast experience in the import/export business and product distribution has become a valuable skill set to HCI Trading and we welcome her to the team.
Naveen Kumar -Program Manager
Naveen Kumar from Lovely Professional University in 2011, gaining a Degree in Master Of Computer Application.
A highly experienced and creative web developer with six years’ experience in a variety of exciting projects. A level head and rational approach to problem solving combined with a passion for innovative and fresh ideas has led to a portfolio of impressive website solutions. Technically competent and industry aware means that each project is undertaken with the most up-to-date and relevant programming foundations available. A strong communicator with the ability to convey ideas clearly with an emphasis on client satisfaction.
Manuel Ngwakongnwi- Trader, Gulf Region
Manual holds and MSc. in Management of Physical Land Resources. Having successfully led a global shipping company, he is experienced with international trade. Manuel is an excellent relationship builder with practical knowledge of logging & forestation, sawn timber, lumber, and international export regulations.
Given the growth of our business, Manuel is developing a network of clients within the Gulf timber market that would be valuable for HCI Trading partnerships and business expansion.
Andrew Lartey – Procurement Director, Africa
Andy graduated from the University of Cape Coast in 1987, gaining a Degree in General Agriculture and Forestry Science. After completing two years National Service as an Agricultural Tutor, Andy went on to be trained in the Veneer Buying Business.
When the veneer business slowed due to shortage of Grade B logs for slicing Andy joined a reputable European Trading firm as Purchasing Manager of Tropical Lumbers.
Andy has a very good knowledge of West African timber market in terms of quality and specification requirements needed for European importers, his expertise and professionalism has truly added to the HCI Trading team.
